Adoption – Home at Last!

The last few weeks have been hectic. Preparing for the very last leg of the journey.

Last week we met the child we had been matched with for the very first time. We fell in love immediately and he took straight to us. He run straight into our arms and had no fear of hesitation at all. We spent the rest of the week slowly building up our time with him. First at the foster home and then at our own home. It was a wrench taking him back home each night – especially as journey was so long.

We also met the birth parents – that was hard – but worth it. Very emotional.

It was also very emotional for the foster carer and her family to say goodbye.

It’s been a very long road and this last stage was perhaps the hardest.

Today has been the pay off. Today we brought home our new son forever.

Poem a day challenge #306 (Daggers)

By Scott Bailey © 2014

A dagger can be subtle
Not just a sharp stabbing tool
Can slowly cut away supports
Until they fray with time
And then it only takes
A single little pluck
And all comes crashing down
The betrayers hand unknown

Poem a day challenge #303 (Dadda)

By Scott Bailey © 2014

I think I have broken my toe
But I am just too tired to know
Stubbed it on a childproof gate
Too tired to see it until too late
But the pain and the weariness melt away
Into warmth when you hear them say
Dadda and they give you a smile
That gives you the strength for the next mile
