NaNoWriMo Madness

Must need my head examined – despite al the stress in my life and the lack of time – I have signed up for the second year running.

Going to resurrect a very old novel I started around 20 years ago. I recently found the complete outline for it in the loft! The story still excites me to this day and I still like the characters, so I will give it a second chance!

I am going to ignore my original attempt and start again from scratch – using the outline but writing anew – rather that trying to edit the old version. I think I can write better now.

I think.

Where the Wild Wood Weaves

thehouseofbailey

By Scott Bailey © 2015

Where the wild wood weaves
And the willow weeps
Where the deep dark dwells
And the savage sunlight sleeps

Where the serpents writhe
Around a blood-red spear
Where the wicked glance
Then turn away in fear

Where children’s happy sighs
Are swallowed in the night
Never really here
Just memory’s separate sight

Where my heart does plunge
In the empty space of dreams
Where vision fades from eyes
And air congeals with screams

Where ancient stone walls fall
Where poets finally cease

Cease.

Poem a day challenge #111 (Repeating Lives)

Repeating Lives

By Scott Bailey © 2013

Taking my son to my old school
Following the bus I used to take
Still the same number
Basically the same model
The same smell of classrooms
And I wonder
Is this it?
Are we destined
To repeat lives?

It is not enough
I want more
More for my children
Than was there for me
No fear
More doors
No prejudice
More joy in knowledge

Is that too much to ask?
