Life and Death

OK. So the prompt immediately and powerfully took me to one place only – and though it’s gloomy – that’s what I had to write. And I couldn’t get it into one Haiku no matter what I tried – so instead I wrote two linked – with the traditional contrast between the two rather than inside the one.

I promise to write something cheerier next time.

Potential new life
Excitement when waters break
New life brings us cheer

Six forever hours
Caressing a fading pulse
All cheer drains away
